Poster Idea (By Rebecca Henstock)
This is my poster idea for our film, I think its very eye catching. i decided to make it black and white as if i used alot of colour it wouldnt portray the film well as the film is not a happy filmI wanted to make my poster simple yet show the correct amount of infomation about the film for people to be curious to watch it. For example, writing a tagline under the title to give the audience a jist of what its about also by putting a quote from a newspaper and a magazine to attract the audience to watch it more if they think its "outstanding" and "draws you in straight away, its a must see"
I also looked at other posters for ideas how to set my poster out. Where i have put the cast names at the top i have used this from looking at a poster and i think it looks very effective on my poster and its not messy and keeps it neat and simple.
I created this poster on Photoshop. i took the image and it was already taken in black and white but i wanted to intencify it by increasing the contrast and brightness. I added the title on "uncherished" and chose my font i wanted to use, i chose zapfino font for my title as it looks very presentable. I then went on the internet and copy and pasted ,y 15 rated sign and put it in the bottom corner to show what rating our film i.

Poster Research (By Jordan Evans & Olivia Davies)
- Raise awareness
- Advertise the film itself & the genre
- Attract a certain audience
What film posters have;
- Film title
- Main image
- Tag line
- Certificate
- Release Date
- Actors/ Actresses
- Directors
- Producers
- Website
- Movie awards
- Reviews/ Star ratings
- Production/Distribution/ funds company
Most of these things contribute to a good, eye catching film poster, they also make the poster informative to the audience, giving the audience enough information about the film to make them go and see it. Most of these film posters are mainly aimed at advertisement such as the images, reviews, tag lines and awards making people want to go and see the film.
From film poster research we found out that the colour scheme, layout, size and image of the poster is very important, as it determines the genre of the film. For example;

Horror/ Thriller - use a red and black colour scheme, big images, usually linking also to the genre by means of linking them to the film, like as you can see on the left, there is a screaming face for the 13 ghosts poster and again using the same idea there is a skull in the cabin fever one, although it doesn't stand out as much as the 13 ghosts one, its sort of playing to your subconscious, almost like you know its there but you choose to ignore it.
- relates to real life, so attracts people ( main image)
My Poster Idea (By Olivia Davies)

My film poster idea, has been incorporated out of two images, which I have edited together using photoshop elements. I have made the image of the girl out of focused as then the audiences attention is brought to the first image - the pile of powder on a table, as this then brings attention to the film title. The effect of the images gives a sense of what the film is about as the girl has a 'dissapointed/ undecided/ upset' position.
The colour scheme of the poster is monotone, which uses a single neutral color such as black, light to medium grays, beiges, taupes, and off whites; this gives a feeling of a quiet quality to the film, also suggests the grayness and sadness of the drama in which the story tells.
The text I have used for the film title I have chose so it looks like it has a texture like the image of the powder. To make the text have more of a texture like the powder I incorpoarated an image of powder in the colouring of the text, unfortunately it is unnoticable and appears as it is a white solid colour. The film title is also inverted upwards, as if to the middle of the poster, this then makes the title look coherent with the pile of powder, and gives an effect of a shadow of the powder. I have used a cursive font for the tagline of the film as it suggests that it is about someone's life, also personal; I decided to place the text at the top of the poster to the left of the image ,as there is a blank open space which needed filling, but also that I didn't want the text over the main image of the girl, as the image itself would lose the attention of the audience.
For other advertising purporses and credit of the film, I have included logo's of Channel 4 and Film4 to show the association of the film; this also shows the audience in which channel they need to watch to be able to watch and have acess to the film.
The changes in which I think should be made to make the poster better, would be putting the tagline in a different colour, as it seems to blend into the image too much and becomes unoticed, however if I changed the colour to another solid colour, which was semi bright, then in my opinion it would contrast too much with the rest of the poster, as the only colour on the poster is from the Film4 logo.

Poster Research (By Jordan Evans)

This is my poster research for our film, as you can see i have chosen the Batman Dark Knight poster with the Joker character as the main image, i chose this image because this is the main poster where i gathered my ideas for my own. As you can see on the image the poster includes a main image of the chosen character this is the main focus point for the audience, and just above this is the tag line used in the film by this certain character. I like what they have done with the tag line in terms of the characters personality as it is wrote in blood and with a character name like joker you would think that he was a happy jolly character in the film, it also reflects in the question itself "why so serious" it is almost as if he is mocking his self in saying this. Also the smiley face that has been made in blood which is also a characteristic of the joker, this stands out a lot from the frosted glass that he is stood behind, this is how you know who it is and what the poster if for, it is sort of a selling point for the film. it also includes the name which is located at the bottom of the poster, which will be the last thing that the audience sees along with the release date, this sort of rounds the poster up as the audience is getting the most important information at the last minuet, making the audience look at the whole poster for information. i think i will include this sort of layout to my poster to make the audience study the poster in detail. It also includes in small print right at the bottom an website for the audience to look online and follow what the posters is selling, also at the bottom of the poster is some logos in both the right and left bottom corners, theres are placed there and slightly faded out, these will be the distributors and production company's, these are at the bottom of the poster mainly because that the audience is not looking for the information of production company's, but companies that are on the poster can be seen if anyone wants to look for them. This can also apply for a short film poster which will be aired on tv, they will include the channel logo smaller than anything else in the poster out of the way, rather than the main image, this is because the main image is the selling point of what you are wanting to advertise you you are wanting to make it bigger than everything else to get the desired effect across to the audience to make them watch and come and watch the film that you are advertising.

Film Poster Research (By Kasey Swift)
This is england was a low budget film which was only shown in small, selected, cinemas and became popular after being aired on film four. As it is a low budget film I th
ought that this film poster would be good to look at to help create our own film poster as it is low budget and aimed at a British audience, like our short film. The poster shows two images which is divided by a white banner with the film title and other bits of key information. It contains quotes from reviews and also the awards it has won . The poster has a colour scheme of blue, red and white which are the colours of the union jack, this links it to the name of the film. The poster has pictures of all the main cast, and through there costumes it sends a clear message to a british audience that the film is set in the 1980's when these fashion trends were popular, the main one we see is the skin heads(which is what the film story is about) and these have a reputation of being violent.Wednesday, 20 January 2010
Poster Research (By Olivia Davies)
'Shifty' was a small budget film as they were apart of the microwave scheme; the poster for 'Shifty' is simple and doesn't give too much information about the film however it uses the features of:- Quotes from reviews, and star ratings to sell the film, the use of these help promote and 'big up' the film.
- Used bright, solid, yellow colour, this helps it stand out and aid the title of the film as it contrasts with the black, bold font.
- Image, big - shows the two main characters.
- Mention of actors, to establish and promote who is in the film.
- The black solid line which has been used to represent the 'i', somewhat splits the poster and the two characters, this suggests the difference between the two, and the different lives they have led and the how they have been apart for a while.
The poster, for 'Reign Over Me' is simple yet effective. The poster itself doesn't show too much about the details of the film; the film is a drama about a man who lost his family in the September 11 attack on New York City and runs into his old college roommate, this rekindling of friendship is the one thing that appears able to help the man recover from his grief. The poster uses a vanishing point image which represents a dust covered NYC on the outer side of the two main characters, and then uses vibrant colours for the two main characters and the background behind them, this suggests the transition of the character going from his state of grieve.
The title and the names of the actors uses the same effect of the image, as they both use the colour scheme of having a black and white tone at the front and then colour at the end, (black and then blue).

'The Tracey Fragments' is a drama about a girl searching for her brother, In flashbacks and fragments,we see what leads up to her riding in the back of a city bus wrapped in a shower curtain, coming of age, or just surviving?
The image which is used, is very effective as it emphasizes the word 'fragment' as the image is edited to have the effect that fragments are coming off the character's dress, the fragments represents the flashbacks and past of the character.
The poster has the typical features of a poster;
- Film Festival award tags, and quotes
- Tag line
- Actress, director and music producer's name.
- Website
- Production Companies.
- Main Image, Unique selling point.

Filming Process 4 (By Kasey Swift)
Scene: Friends Scene
Location: Locke Park.
For this scene we wanted a netural and open environment so that it looked like a place where stacy leigh and her friends would meet up and we thought that, as Stacey Leigh is a teenager, a park would be a perfect place. In this scene we see Stacey Leigh is arguing with her best friends, this scene shows how Stacey Leighs change because of the abuse and drugs. Filming went well and only took a short time, we had to redo some shots as we were in a public park and there were many people passing by.
Location Shot 1 (By Kasey Swift)
We choose this location to film our drug dealing scene. We felt that it was perfect as this under ground walkway is dark and dingy giving the perfect atmosphere for the scene, which is the turning point of the film. Also as we wanted the scene was meant to be filmed at dark this location gave us enough light.

Research - Opening Title Sequence (By Olivia Davies)

Film: Seven
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3HV6jzMIYo&feature=player_embedded
The title sequence for the movie, Seven, presents an eerie atmosphere through it's choice in font and music, as well as camera shots and editing, as the camera shots are close ups of different objects which gives a sense on mystery, but also the editing which makes them fast paced and distorted. The font looks effective as it looks like it has been hand written or scratched into a surface.

Filming Process 3 (By Olivia Davies)
Scene: Video monologue.
Location: Honeywell College Site - Classroom.
In this scene, we wanted Stacey Leigh being the main focus of attention, as the dialogue in which she was saying is important to the film, as it expresses her thoughts and her feelings. Therefore we just had an enclosed environment and a white background so that Stacey Leigh was in focus compared to anything else.
The filming process went extremely well as it only took just over an hour to set up the camera equipment and start recording, the only problem which occurred was interuptions from outside the classroom, such as the banging of doors.
